Ollie married Lois Irene Rodenborg, d/o Henry M. "Hans" Rodenborg & Golda Irene Purdy, and previous wife of Emil V. Mattkins, who died in 1951, on Sep 10, 1954 in Mora, MN. The marriage did not last long. She next married John Danielson in 1956 and Clifford Anderson in 1991. Lois was still alive and living in nearby Brunswick, while Mattkins, Danielson, and Anderson had passed away, by Jun 19, 2010, when her brother, Lyman, died.

Ollie Gums Married to Lois Mattkins
The marriage of Mrs. Lois Mattkins of route 1, Mora, and Ollie Gums of route 3, Mora, took place Friday, Sept. 10, at the Mora Methodist parsonage. The Rev. Roy Thompson read the double ring ceremony.
Mrs. Harold [Muriel] Rodenborg, sister-in-law of the bride was matron of honor. Best man was Albert B. Olson of Mora.
The bride wore a powder blue gown of crepe with scattered rhinestones and a corsage of red an pink baby roses and carnations. Her rhinestone necklace and earrings were gifts of the groom.
Mrs. Rodenborg also wore a powder blue dress with a corsage of pink roses and carnations. Her rhinestone necklace and bracelet were gifts from the bride.
After a wedding trip to northern Minnesota, Mr. and Mrs. Gums are making their home on a farm in Peace township.

Ollie's father was the youngest son of Carl "Charles" Gums Sr. of Lobsens, Posen, Prussia, who lived with them for many years. He grew up with the stories of the old country and was able to relate some of them to the author that have been included in our family history; "The History of the Gums/Goms Family in America" available at the Family History Library in Salt Lake City, UT.

On Jul 6,1989, I received a letter from George Weins which stated, "I have some bad news for you.  Uncle Ollie passed on last Sep twenty seventh.  He went into the Mora hospital for a physical about a week before. Ollie always had some stomach problems for yrs.  He never wore his upper plate of teeth too much.  I think it had a lot to do with his stomach problems.  He had a partial plate on the lower half.  That Tuesday the woman doctor decided to keep Ollie over night at the hospital.  About eight o'clock that night he had a stroke.  A week later he passed away.  I did not figure he would go so quickly as he did.  Ollie was eighty six yrs. old."
