The obituary of Louis Gums in 1929 states that his daughter, Ida Weins, was a cook at the New Central Hotel in Peace.

A letter from Ollie Gums states, ". . . Ida Weins daughter of Louis and Anna Gums was married to Joseph Weins, 1919. Joseph H. Weins was a veteran of World War I. One daughter passed on in infancy. They had 2 boys Raymond Eugene Weins and George Arnold Weins. They both served in World War II. Raymond was wounded in the Normandy invasion. Raymond worked at the sheet metal trade but is now retired. George worked for International Harvester Co. and is retired. He makes his home with me. Raymond, wife, and daughter live in Chicago. George has 3 daughters, 1 Minnesota, 1 California, 1 in Arizona. George's wife passed on 1977 . . ." Minnesota Birth Certificates Index 1900-1934 shows an unnamed daughter, born April 17, 1920, died April 20, 1920.

Ida died in Minneapolis in 1960, and is buried at the Ft. Snelling National Cemetery, next to her husband, Joseph. Raymond, a retired machinist, lives in Chicago and has one daughter, Roxy, living at home. George has three daughters; Kathleen Feltz of Los Altos, California, Ruth Yankee, now of Buffalo, Minnesota, and Janice D. Rogers of Elk River, Minnesota.
