Patty R. Long, 67, Martinsville, died at 9:04 p.m. on Aug. 25, 2005, at her residence. The daughter of the late Alfred W. and Julia L. (Delhaye) Derringer, she was born Feb. 26, 1938, in Vermilion County, Ill. Her husband, Steve Long, whom she married Sept. 4, 1954, survives. Long was a homemaker. She was a member of Paragon Bible Baptist Church and enjoyed her family, socializing, hummingbirds and collecting angels. Other survivors include four sons, Steve Long Jr., Terry, Garry and Randy Long, all of Martinsville; four daughters, Pam Lambert, Debra Robinson, and Marge Breeden, all of Martinsville, and Tonya Hopkins, Paragon; two brothers, Ron Derringer, Indianapolis, and Jackie Cruppenink, Hopewell, Va.; sister, June Persell, Indianapolis; 29 grandchildren, and 11 great-grandchildren. A son, Billy Long, four brothers and three sisters also preceded her in death. The service will be 1 p.m. Monday, Aug. 29, 2005, at Neal & Summers Mortuary in Martinsville. Pastor Cleve Cross will officiate. Burial will be in Friendship Park Cemetery in Paragon.
