She was a 1973 graduate of Peabody (Mass.) HS as well as a graduate of St. Vincent School of Nursing in Worcester, Mass.
Cathy always knew she wanted to be a nurse. During HS she volunteered as a "candy striper" at Salem Hospital (Mass.) and earned a promotion to "Ward Secretary" within two years.
She was a big supporter of research for Alzheimers and in her later nursing years cared for many who suffered from it, including her mother. She was also one to spend a lot of time helping abandoned dogs.
