Nelli lived in Obertyn, Poland, and was murdered during the Holocaust. Her village was occupied by SS soldiers; while most of Obertyn's Jews were deported to Belzec in 1942, some Jews, including Nelli's family, were allowed to remain. In 1943, however, the Nazis massacred the remaining Jews in Obertyn, shooting them and burning them alive in their homes. Nelli and her siblings were murdered during this scourge.
