Death of Charles Mueller.

Found Dying by his Wife Early Yesterday Morning.

When Mrs. Charles Mueller Sr., called to her husband to awaken at about 3:15 o'clock Tuesday morning in order to stop what she thought to be his snoring in his sleep, a habit to which he had become addicted in the past two years, she found her husband in a dying condition. He was dead before a physician arrived, apoplexy being the cause of death, according to the verdict returned by the coroner's jury.

Charles Mueller, Sr. was one of the best known German residents in Springfield. For the past forty-three years he had been a resident of this city, coming here from Bavaria, Germany, where he was born on Jan. 1, 1843, being 66 years, 10 months and 19 days old at the time of his death. For several years he was engaged in the wholesale liquor business, but had lived in retirement for some time. He was a member of SS. Peter and Paul's Roman Catholic church and was a member of the Loyal Americans of the Republic.

Monday afternoon and night Mr. Mueller was feeling in his usual good health. He performed his usual duties about home and appeared to be as jovial as usual. Not until about 3 o'clock yesterday morning was it discovered that he was ill, his death following within ten minutes after he made his first move.

Surviving him are his wife, Theresa Mueller; five sons, Erhardt, Charles, Henry, John and Frank Mueller, all of this city; two daughters, Mrs. William Rauph of Blue Mound and Miss Rose Mueller, residing at home, and one sister, Mrs. Henry Schwab of Blue Mound.
