HEDLEY - Virgil Dale Johnson, 84, died Friday, March 26, 2004.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday in First Baptist Church with the Rev. Bruce Howard, pastor, and the Rev. Bryan Knowles, pastor of Community Fellowship Church in Clarendon, officiating. Burial will be in Rowe Cemetery by Robertson Funeral Directors of Clarendon.

Mr. Johnson was born June 29, 1919, in Burnside, Ky., and had been a resident of Hedley all of his life. He married Jo Anne Reeves on June 24, 1960, in Donley County. He was employed in the water utility department of the City of Hedley and as a caretaker at Rowe Cemetery. He had farmed several years before his retirement.

He was preceded in death by his parents, William Grover and Eva Neeley Johnson; two brothers, Ruben and Willie Johnson; and two sisters, Laura Britton and Etta Moss.

Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Sue Britten and husband, Jimmy, of Groom and Beckie Torres and husband, Frank, of Amarillo; three sons, Jesse Reynolds and wife, Dianne, of Shamrock, Johnny Reynolds and wife, Sharon, of Graford and Bobby Johnson of Hedley; a sister, Dorothy Christensen of Lyons, Kan.; four grandchildren, Jesse Reynolds, Susan Clendennen, Cindy Lambert and Joshua Reynolds; and five great-grandchildren, Samantha Clendennen, Kenlee Lambert, Jayden Lambert, Emma Lambert and Cara Lambert.
