"THE ARGONIA ARGOSY Thursday, April 24, 1924 Page 1 Col. 3
NANNIE LAWRENCE Lot #324
Nannie, daughter of Aaron and Sarah Thompson, was born at St. Clair, Michigan, April 26, 1867 and died at the home of her son, H.E. Bevan in Wichita, Kansas, April 18, 1924, aged 56 years, 11 months and 12 days.
When a child she removed with her parents to Storm Lake, Iowa and later to Sumner County, Kansas, which has since been home to her.
In 1884 she was married to David Bevan. To them was born two children ; H.E. Bevan of Wichita, and Ressie, who died in infancy. Her husband died in 1889 and after a few years of widowhood she was again married to Perry A. Larrance of Haviland, Kansas. To this union was born five children: Mrs. J.D. Wornom of Conway Springs, Kansas; Mrs. Garrett E. Alexander of Mayfield, Kansas; Mrs. Ray E. Achelpohl of Caldwell, Kansas; Harvey Larrence of Argonia, Kansas and Miss Amy Larrence of Wichita, Kansas. She is also survived by eight grandchildren, one brother and one sister and an aged step-mother who early took the place of mother to her.
Again widowed she has to depend upon herself very largely for the care of herself and children. The prayer of her young motherhood was that she might live to raise her children, but life was sweet to her to the last.
She was converted early in life and in 1884 united with the Friends church to which she has ever been loyal.
An older sister was also laid to rest on Easter Day which is a beautiful promise of the new life begun in Heaven with the Risen Christ.
"When Easter comes, we kneel beside
Our graves where lies such precious dust
And say while strewing fragrant flowers,
Because the Christ arose, we must."
Funeral services were held at the Friends Church on Sunday afternoon at 2:30, conducted by Rev. W.F. Pribbenow, assisted by Mrs. Sumpter. Interment was made in the Argonia cemetery. Arrangements were in charge of the Argonia Undertaking Co."
