Catherine was the daughter of Danish immigrants William John and Mary (Hansen) Murdoch. On 5 December 1903, Catherine married Frank P. Page; they had three children, Samuel, Roy, and Nellie May. The couple separated and Catherine remarried on 16 April 1919 to Allan C. M. Bollinger; with whom she had one child, Inez Catherine. Allan had three other children from his previous marriage--Ida, J. Gilbert, and Margaret--who Catherine raised as her own.
