Chase Bruce Southwick
Chase Bruce Southwick was born on October 21, 1970, and left us behind on Thursday, September 13, 2012. He was born and lived most of his life in Willits, leaving for short periods of time to attend Mendocino College and Sacramento State University. Chase also worked as a laborer in Santa Rosa.
His health was not good, but he never complained. When he was around friends and family he was upbeat and always tired to be a positive person, and in return we loved him unconditionally.
His hobbies consisted of a variety of things, including fishing, the rodeo as a youngster, horses and all animals in general. He was also a musician (drummer) and had an eye for the beauty of artistry, such as drawing with his hands and memory; this was, and still is, very beautiful.
He especially hated garbonzo beans. He reminded me (Vicki) at the last family gathering that I used to make him and our sister eat garbanzo beans, resulting in both of them throwing up. He could not believe I had them on the table, and being the humorous sarcastic man he was, did not let me live it down for the remainder of that gathering.
Chase has left his mother, Audrey Southwick; his father, Bruce Southwick; his brother and partner, Rodney Wood and Kathy DuFresne; his sisters and their husbands, Vicki and William Lane, Sunni and Victor Haupt; sister Shelly Cartwright; many aunts and uncles, including John and Sherry Honeycutt; as well as many cousins, nieces and nephews.
He will be missed.
A Celebration of Life barbecue for Chase will be held at noon on September 22, at Recreation Grove Park, next to the rodeo grounds.
