Businessman, Philanthropist. Oliver Hamilton was the eldest son of James Mannington Hamilton and Zymilla Hamilton, nee Monnett. He was raised upon his father's farm and helped with the quarry that his father operated. Along with his younger brother Merle Hamilton, Oliver was educated at the Linn Schoolhouse, down the road from his parent's house. Oliver entered The Ohio State University upon graduation, however, he left to help his father operate the quarry in 1930. Eventually, the quarry would become his career, however, Oliver completed his dream of a college diploma at the age of 98 when he graduated from Ohio State. Oliver was active in all things Marion and he supported all best efforts for the community.
Oliver married Madelon Marjorie Robnolte, and they enjoyed sixty-seven years together. Father, grandfather, and great grandfather.
To say that Oliver Hamilton was beloved is an understatement. He was one of those who left the world a better place than when he was born into it. He made everyone feel special, and was interested in them. Both Oliver and his brother Merle were giants, the likes of which won't be seen again for many years to come.
