Molly was the 12th and final child (6 girls, 6 boys) born to Herman and Lillian (Niichel) Boever.

Molly ("Marlene" then) attended Remsen St. Mary's grade school and high school, graduating in 1960.

Right out of high school in 1960, Molly attended and graduated from airline flight-attendant training in Omaha. However, her dad became very sick, and she returned to Remsen to help take care of him. Except for that brief period, Molly always lived in Plymouth County, Remsen or Le Mars.

When she took a job at Archie’s Waeside Steakhouse in Le Mars in 1962, she first commuted daily from Remsen, then later moved to Le Mars.

Molly finally retired from the Waeside. In fact, all she ever did, she told me, was work at the Waeside. She started there as a waitress in 1962 and rose to assistant manager/bar manager. She once said she had no idea what she would do with herself if she ever retired.

Throughout her life Molly’s hobbies included working in the Waeside garden, working 6 days a week (??), and travel. She also took long walks while listening to books on tape. She liked to read a wide range of mystery writers, and some of her favorites were Harlan Coben, Sue Grafton, and the silly Janet Evanovich.

Molly used to travel a lot, but then she lost interest in it. When Archie was still living, she used to go to Las Vegas with him maybe every three months. She traveled to Europe with friends. She went to Luxembourg. She went to Germany for Oktoberfest. She went to Italy and saw Rome and the Vatican, and she totally enjoyed Pompeii. She also went to Oahu, Hawaii.

Molly is survived by two sisters, Becky (Dean) Norris of Arcadia, CA, and Judy (Bill) Pover of Peosta, IA; two brothers, Jim (Phyllis) Boever of Davenport, IA, and Tom (Mary Ann) Boever of Dubuque, IA; and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.

Molly was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Maurice, Donald, Pat, and Boniface; sisters, Marge Willcoxson, June Schlitz, and Mary Lee Lange; sisters-in-law, Fern Boever, Marce Boever, and Karen Boever; brothers-in-law, Bob Willcoxson, Rich Schlitz, and Earl Lange; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A private family graveside service will be held on Thursday, July 23, 2020, at Calvary Cemetery in Sioux City, Iowa. Father Bruce Lawler will officiate. Visitation with social distancing and wearing a mask will be from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 22, 2020, at Rexwinkel Funeral Home in Le Mars.

She was my classmate at Remsen St. Mary's. And she was a dear friend. The world is a poorer place today without Molly in it.
