Adam was the husband of Effie Parry Doherty. They were the parents of six children; Mrs. Chris Palitsch, Mrs. James Van Olpen, Mrs. John Wilson, Mrs. Edward Bouchard. Arthur F. and George Doherty.
Adam worked as a machinist for D & H Railroad. He was a member of the Evening Star Lodge, No. 75. F. and A. M. and the First Presbyterian Church. After a long illness, Adam died at the age of 75 of heart disease.
