Bessie Louise Adams
July 3, 1937 - June 16, 2020

Bessie Louise Adams, 82 of Waldorf, Md. passed away on Tuesday, June 16, 2020 at University of Maryland Charles Regional Medical Center in LaPlata, Md.

Bessie was born July 3, 1937 in Port Tobacco, Md. She was the daughter of the late Philip Joseph Murphy and Emma Jane Green.

She grew up on the family farm along with her beloved Grandmother, who made a lasting impact on her and would often share stories about life on the farm, as well as reminiscing about her.

She graduated from LaPlata High School in 1956 and as her year book captioned "Gets along with Everybody".

She married John "Johnny" Francis Adams Sr. on June 20,1964 at St.Peters Church in Waldorf, Md.

They had over 37 wonderful years together with family, friends, and life in general and loved going away to the beach, dances and being social. Later they shared their union with two children John-John and Phyllis and raised them both with heart, compassion and provided a home where they were always loved and encouraged to think for themselves as well as others.

She spent 25 years working in the Department of Planning and Growth Management for the Charles County Government and greatly enjoyed her job and was a dedicated worker.

She retired early to care for her husband Johnny and with her love and care made his remaining years as comfortable and enjoyable as she could for him and the family and did so many times in silence, not out of sacrifice or duty, but for the sheer love for her husband and family. It was very much mutual as Johnny would refer to her many times throughout the years as his "Doll Baby".

It was a very difficult time for her after his passing and she would always be stoic for her children and remember the good times they had and would reflect on them with family and friends. And later on filled her time caring for her beloved "girls" Madison, Ava, and little Brookie. She adored them and loved hearing from and spending time with them and was always so proud of their accomplishments in school and in life and eagerly awaited their nightly calls. She loved being their Grandmother.

In her alone time she enjoyed word puzzles, game shows, and loved to laugh along with comedies, and late night talk shows and music and a few bus trips to the casinos in Atlantic City.

Bessie was a kind, compassionate, wonderful person who was always smiling, lend a helping hand, and had such a huge caring heart. She was loved and liked by many. Making a lasting impact on their lives and will be very much missed.

Bessie is survived by her son John F. Adams Jr., daughter Phyllis Caywood, son in law Tommy, her three granddaughters, Madison, Ava, and Brooke. Her two sister’s Margaret Gettic of Brandywine, MD, and Marian Johnson of Mechanicsville, MD, sister in law Ella Mae Hulsey, Betty Jane Bridgette and brother in law Paul Richards as well as many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, and her beloved husband Johnny Adams.

The family will be having a Life Celebration on Friday, July 3, 2020 at 10:00 am to 11:00 am at Brinsfield Funeral Home. 30195 Three Notch Road, Charlotte Hall, Md. 20622. Prayers will be at 11:00 am also at the Funeral Home and officiated by Deacon Bill Kyte from Immaculate Conception Catholic Church.
