William Thomas Rome, September 28, 1946-July 13, 2020. He fought a hard battle with cancer and will be missed.
Bill graduated from Syosett High School and was on the Swim Team. He graduated from Indiana University at Indianapolis, majoring in Theology. He loved to play the guitar, writing, restoring muscle cars and clamming in the Great South Bay, L.I., N.Y. Bill will be remembered for his caring nature and wonderful spirit. He loved his family, friends, and several cats and two swans that he fed. He loved animals and they'd come out from the woods when they heard him approaching with their food. There is nothing he enjoyed more than playing his guitar near the water.
He left behind a large beloved family, including two grandchildren: Luna and Kye, three sisters: Katherine (Melissa) Lawner, Jeanne Goodspeed and Mayva Burckley. He is also survived by his nieces and nephews: Rhiannon, Elysia, Hadria, Damon, Talon and cousins: Trey, Lynn, Todd, Meg, John and Sandi. As well as other family of his heart: Shirley and Jim Park, Betty-Jean Park, Joyce Mlodynia and Joann Schroeder. He is predeceased by his son Jayson Rome and his parents William W. Rome and Elizabeth P. Hoffmann.
Bill was laid to rest privately, next his grandfather Thomas King Patterson, in Greenfield Cemetery in Uniondale NY (Section 28, Lot 76-77).
