Leota Fern Gould, 88, Ottawa, died Wednesday, Aug. 22, 2007, at Olathe Medical Center, Olathe. Services will be 10 a.m. Saturday at Dengel & Son Mortuary, Ottawa.
She was born Feb. 18, 1919, at Lebo to James Harrison Bristow and Pearl Ethelda (Myers) Bristow.
She moved with her family to Ottawa when she was about 3 or 4 years old. She moved to California in 1938 and returned to Ottawa in 1942. She moved to Las Vegas, Nev., to live with her daughter in the fall of 2002. She returned to Ottawa July 2006.
She attended Ottawa schools.
She was a member of the New Hope Baptist Church, Wellsville, and the Emery Green Club.
She worked as a sales clerk at J.C. Penney for 20 years. She retired in 1981. In the 1950s she managed the lunchroom for the Wellsville school and in recent years was an antique dealer and collector of dolls.
She married Roger William Gould March 28, 1938, at Los Angeles, Calif. He preceded her in death July 29, 1989.
Survivors include a daughter, Bonnie Jean Everett, and her husband, James S. Everett, Henderson, Nev.; a granddaughter, Jacqueline Sue "Jackie" Everett, Washington, D.C.; a grandson, James Samuel "Jim" Everett III, and his wife, Rachel, Orange County, Calif.; a brother, Galen M. Bristow, and his wife, Dorrene, Ottawa; great-grandchildren, Alexa, Audrey, Alexandra and Quinn; and a sister-in-law, Violet Bristow, Osawatomie.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Leo J. Bristow, and a sister, Norma P. Williams.
Burial will be at Hope Cemetery, Ottawa.
