s/o Frederick W. Goms and Bertha A. Werner. } The birth announcement appeared in the Sibley County, Minnesota newspaper on Friday, April 21, 1893, "Born - To Mr. and Mrs. Fred Gums, this city, Monday, April 17, a boy." Herbert married Esther Mae Morris, d/o Reuben B. Morris & Margaret E. Magel, on Jun 1, 1918 in Havre, MT. Enlisted in the Army on 15 Aug 1918 at Ft. Missoula, Montana. Honorably Discharged 25 Jan 1919 at Ft. Logan, Colorado. He was a Private during the term of his enlistment, ASN 4578311.

Before and after the wedding, several announcements appeared in the Havre newspapers:

Invitations are out announcing the marriage of Miss Esther Morris and Mr. Herbert C. Goms, which happy event will take place at the home of Miss Morris' sister, Mrs. A. J. Brod­erick [sic], on South Third avenue at high noon June 1. Mr. Goms is one of the popular clerks in the office of Clerk and Recorder John H. Devine at the court house. Miss Morris is a poular [sic] young lady of this city.

Mrs. L. V. Beaulieu last night gave a delightful evening in honor of Havre's June bride, Miss Esther Morris. The entertainment consist­ed of a theatre party at the Orpheum followed by a motor ride, after which the party journeyed for a time by the "Owl Special" where a table was beautifully set, with pink and white carnations for the centerpiece and favors. The guests, in addition to the guest of honor, were the Misses Lucy Patterson, Marion Broadwater, Bertha Dolstrum [sic], and Esther Lyn­hain [sic], the Mesdames Earl [Phyllis] Bronson and A. J. [Anna] Boderick [sic].

Miss Esther Morris will become the bride of Herbert C. Goms, deputy in the office of the couty (sic) clerk and recorder, June 1, according to invitations that have been sent out.

On Tuesday evening Miss Esther Morris, who will become a bride this month, was honored by a theatre party at the Orpheum, given by Mrs. L. V. Beaulieu. The evening's entertainment consisted a theatre party followed by a motor ride, after which refreshments were enjoyed at the 'Owl Special'. Those enjoying the occasion were: the Misses Esther Morris, Lucy Patterson, Marion Broadwater, Bertha Dahlstrom, Esther Lynam [sic], and the Mesdames Earl [Phyllis] Bronson, and A. J. [Anna] Brodrick.

A wedding of especial interest to a host of friends and acquaintances took place today at high noon, when Miss Esther Morris and Mr. Herbert Goms were united in marriage. The ceremony, with Rev. Christler officiating, was read at the home of the bride's sister, Mrs. A. J. Brodrick and was attended by a few close friends. The rooms were beautiful in a profusion of pink and lavender sweet peas and these colors were also used at the bride's table. Miss Morris, who is a graduate of the Havre high school, is one of the city's most charming and popular young ladies while Mr. Goms is a valued attaché of the clerk and recorder's office and has a host of friends in Havre and vicinity. After a short trip to Butte and other Montana cities, Mr. and Mrs. Goms will establish their home in this city.

Miss Esther Morris became the bride of Herbert C. Goma [sic] yesterday, the marriage ceremony being performed at high noon at the home of the bride's sister, Mrs. A. J. Boderick [sic], the Rev. Leonard J. Christler officiating. The happy young couple were attended by Mr. and Mrs. Earl J. Bronson. Miss Edith Lyman presided at the piano and rendered the wedding march as the bridal couple entered the living room where the ceremony was performed in front of a bank of flowers and ferns for which a large American Flag was the background. Mrs. P. C. Barrett and daughter, Kathleen, Georgia, and Laura, Mrs. Walter Mack, Mrs. L. V. Beaulieu, Mr. and Mrs. George Forge, Mrs. Lyman and daughter, Esther, Mr. and Mrs. Bertha Dahlstrom, Lida Wright. The young couple left on the afternoon train for a short wedding trip to Great Falls, Helena, Boulder, and Butte, after which they will be at home in Havre. The bride wore a beautiful travel suit of peacock blue with a large picture hat. Immediately after the wedding, an elaborate two course luncheon was served from small tables decorated in pink and lavender bouquets of sweet peas formed the centerpiece of each table. The place cards and nut cups being in pink and lavender, while in the brick ice cream the colors appeared again. Both young people are very popular with the younger social set of this city. Mr. Goma [sic] is assistant deputy clerk in the offices of Clerk and Recorder John H. Devine.
