Addie Mae Kirk Loewe died Monday afternoon, September 3, 2007, at her home in Rockdale. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m., Tuesday, September 11, 2007, at Bremond Funeral Home. Services will be at 11 a.m., Wednesday, September 12, 2007, at the First Baptist Church in Bremond. Private family graveside services will be held at Milano Cemetery.

Addie Mae was born in Milano, Texas, and reared by her grandparents, Mattie and Asa McGregor. She married Harold Herman Loewe on July 3, 1954. Addie was a longtime resident of Calvert and an active member of First Baptist Church of Bremond, serving as the Rebecca Class Sunday School teacher and on numerous committees as well as the Missions Director. She was past president of the Calvert Woman's Club and was especially interested in the public library at Calvert. She served as treasurer for the Calvert Antique Guild. She was also the Robertson County Precinct 1 chairman for the Republican Party over 15 years, holding primary elections, helping in General and City elections for a number of years.

During her life, Addie worked as a layout artist for the Giddings Times & News, Mexia Daily News, and the Fairfield Recorder. She served as editor/owner of the Calvert Tribune. She ran an antique business in Calvert for 20 plus years. For 10 years, she worked in public schools with students in Hubbard, Harper, and Calvert as a newspaper and yearbook sponsor, carrying a number of students to state U.I.L. academic meets in journalism and having top school newspapers and yearbooks in the state.

Addie's life was centered around her family and her extended church family. She loved people. She would say that growing up, she always felt surrounded by love from her family, church, community and school.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Thelma McGregor Kirk; brothers, Wiley Kirk Jr. and wife, Ruby, and Cecil Kirk and wife, Lisa; and grandparents, Mattie and Asa McGregor.

She is survived by her son, Dusty Loewe and wife, Lisa, of Rockdale; daughters, Cindy Capps and husband, Barry, of Fairfield, and Gaye Hawkins and husband, Henry, of Rockdale; grandsons: Ben Capps, Hal Hawkins, Justin Loewe and Lance Loewe; granddaughters: Erin Capps, Kirby Capps Flandry, Diane Hawkins and Miranda Loewe; brother, Wendell Kirk and wife, Nina, of Lake Jackson; and sisters, Pat Kimmel and husband, J.D., of Houston, and Frances Bush and husband, Hulon, of Cypress.
