WINONA BOY KILLED IN AUTO WRECK WEDNESDAY
BLOW OUT AND RADIUS ROD BREAKS CAUSE CAR TO GO IN BANK;
WADE R. ALBRITTON KILLED INSTANTLY

The citizens of this city were grief stricken Wednesday morning to hear of the death of Wade Reed "Sonny" Albritton, who was killed in an unavoidable auto wreck three miles south of Winona on Highway No. 51.

Boland Holmes, manager of the Winona Base Ball Team was on his way to Vaiden, to advertise the baseball game, which was to be played between Winona and Grenada on Wednesday afternoon and had with him, Wade Reed Albritton and John Edward Wright. The boys were driving a 1928 Ford car without a top on it. About three miles south of town, one of the rear tires blew out and at the same time the radius rod broke causing the car to go into a bank. When the car struck the bank Holmes and Wright were thrown out of the car, but young Albritton held his seat.

The jolt of the car hitting the bank broke Wade Reed's neck and he died before reaching the hospital. A colored man stopped and rushed the boys to the hospital. The other boys were not hurt.

Wade Reed Albritton: better known to his many friends as "Sonny" was a member of the high school of this city. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. W. S. Albritton of this city.

Funeral services were held Thursday afternoon at the Methodist church conducted by the Rev Horace L. Villee. Interment in Oakwood cemetery.

Young Albritton is survived by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. W. S. Albritton; five sisters, Mary Sue, Clara Bell, Eva and Iva, twins and a baby sister and by one brother, Ralph Albritton, of Indiana.
