He is also survived by 8 grandchildren. His parents and his brother Robert G. Storey, Jr. predeceased him. He was reared in Dallas and attended Lipscomb, J.L. Long Jr. High, and Woodrow Wilson High School where he was an All City Basketball player. He attended the University of Texas where he became President of Phi Delta Theta Fraternity and a member of The Cowboys and Phi Delta Phi legal fraternity. He received his B.A. and L.L.B. law degrees from The University after an interruption of three years for military service in World War II. He served as a pilot in the Army Air Forces, including one year overseas based in Italy. He was awarded the Air Medal and the European Theater ribbon with Battle Star. Storey practiced law in Dallas for over 50 years, serving as Senior Partner of Storey Armstrong Steger & Martin and later as Senior Counsel of Carrington Coleman Sloman & Blumenthal. He was elected President of the Dallas Bar Association, Director of the State Bar of Texas and served 10 years as Chairman of the Board of the Southwestern Legal Foundation. He was a Fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers and was named recipient of the Justinian Award by the Dallas Lawyers Auxiliary in recognition of his distinguished service to the community. He served as Trustee of the Hillcrest Foundation, as President of the Greater Dallas Council of Churches, the Children's Development Center, the Dallas Day Nursery Association, and as trustee or board member of numerous other charitable entities. He was a life member of the Salesmanship Club. He loved the out of doors, reading, architecture, movies, contemporary art, skiing with his family in Vail, and traveling to "far away places with strange sounding names". He was a good man who had a good life. He was respected, loved, and enjoyed by all who knew him, and many did. He was on a lovely trip at the time of his heart attack and died with his family around him. He will be deeply missed, but we are so grateful for his wonderful life. A memorial service will be held Saturday 7/19/08 at 11am at Highland Park Methodist Church. There will be valet parking on Bishop Blvd. In lieu of flowers, contributions are suggested to the YMCA of Metropolitan Dallas, the Salesmanship Club or to your favorite charity.
