Mrs. GERTRUDE EVA (PEMBERTON METCALFE) CHRISTMAS was the daughter of H.B. Pemberton Sr. and Mrs. Norella Hawley (Powell) Pemberton.

Ralph Metcalfe, a former Marquette and United States Olympic sprint star, and Gertrude Pemberton, teacher in Booker T. Washington Negro High School, in Dallas, Texas, were married today. Metcalfe, one of the nation's outstanding Negro athletes, is now Coach at Xavier in New Orleans, Louisiana."

Her marriage to Mr. Metcalfe was dissolved by divorce in 1943 in Los Angeles, California.

Gertrude married again to Leonard Christmas on February 5, 1953 in Los Angeles County, California. Leonard preceded her in death on December 17, 1982 in Los Angeles County, California.
