Uncle Green worked at the Alabama State Docks until his death. He and Aunt Nell purchased their home on Wilkins Road in the Pine Grove community in Mobile and he lived there till his death. He was a quiet and gentle man who loved his family. After his brother Bassell's death in 1951 he and Aunt Nell basically took in Roy as their son.
He would pick up Miss Ada who spent weekends with the family. She was picked up from Brown & White's drug store in Crichton (end of city bus line). When Roy and I went with him he always treated us to ice cream at the drug store.
He and Aunt Nell took us to St. Catherine's Church for bingo and let us play 2 cards. If bingo was at other churches we would go. I was always included. They were always very good to me.
