Aunt Nell worked at Brookley Air Force base in Mobile, Alabama. Her home was on Wilkins Road in the Pine Grove Community of Mobile. She loved to garden and planted a variety of vegetables, harvested them placing them in her freezer or in a root cellar. They actually had what could be described as a small farm with various animals. They also had shelters for the animals and a large corn crib. Often at night or on weekends you would see her knitting afghans while watching TV with her two Pekinese dogs. She made arrangements for Roy and me to get a drink and cake or candy at the local store on her bill. Some weekends her friend Miss Ada would visit and help with preparing the vegetables for the freezer. Ruth, their daughter was in California at this time and didn't return until Uncle Greens death. She will surely be missed.
