Seignally married Hannah Hare (daughter of Philip Hare and Mary Hall) on August 10, 1837 in Hamilton County, Indiana. They had two children that died young. One of them was a son named Charles A. Grant.

Seignallay's family originally came from Inverness, Scotland. They arrived in New York on July 3, 1807. The Grants first lived in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania before settling in Carmi, White County, IL in Decemeber of 1818.
