Retired Elevator Operator Dies


Mrs. Joseph Malik, 76, of 226 E. 7th St. Davenport, died early today in St. Lukes Hospital.


Alberta Pruden was born in Burlington and was married to Mr. Malik in Davenport in 1910. He died in 1967.


Until her retirement in 1958, Mrs. Malik was an elevator operator at Hansen Hardware Store.


She is survived by four sons, Joseph, Bettendorf; George, Joliet, Ill.; Walter, Davenport; Lewis, Hinsdale, Ill.; four daughters, Mrs. Thomas O-Hara, Waterloo; Mrs. John Bednarlk, Albuquerque, N.M.; Mrs. Edward Hughes, Bettendorf; Mrs. James Kenney, Silvis, Ill.; two brothers, Archer, Davenport; Roy, National City, Calif.; 28 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren, and a sister, Mrs. Frank Hutton, Wisconsin.


Services for Mrs. Malik will be at 9 a.m. Thursday in St. Anthony's Catholic Church, Davenport, with burial in Mt. Calvary.


A Rosary will be recited at 8 p.m. Wednesday in the Halligan-McCabe Funeral Home.


Visitation will be after 2 p.m. Tuesday.
