Shirley Mae Lawrence Shaw, 73, went to be with the Lord on July 15, 2017, after a long and brave battle with cancer.
Shirley was born on Nov. 15, 1943, to Ralph and Ellie Lawrence. Upon graduation from Slippery Rock High School, she worked as a seamstress and secretary in the Grove City area and Racine, Wis.
On Nov. 30, 1968, she married her longtime sweetheart, David Lynn Shaw, of Grove City; he preceded her in death on March 27, 2013. The couple resided in Grove City, where they raised their son, Kevin.
Although primarily a housewife, Shirley volunteered as secretary at the Lawrence Country Christian School (now Grove City Christian Academy).
As an avid vegetable and flower gardener, Shirley earned her Master Gardener certification and worked with the Mercer Country Extension Master Gardeners.
A longtime member of Nashua Orthodox Presbyterian Church, Edinburg, Pa., Shirley also enjoyed cooking, crafting, stargazing, birding, and spending time with her family.
Survivors include her son, Kevin, daughter-in-law, Tammy; two grandchildren, Christopher and Julia; and many nieces, nephews, and friends.
In addition to her parents and husband, Shirley is preceded in death by four of her six siblings.
