She was born July 12, 1922 in Springfield, IL, the daughter of James Joseph and Doris Irene Moore Ryan. She married John Young in 1987; he preceded her in death in 1995. Her parents; two previous husband, Phillip L. Graf and Joseph Helmers; one son, Marvin Graf; and one sister, Mary Morgan, also preceded her in death.
Mrs. Young worked for the Illinois Secretary of State for 24 years, retiring in 1993. She was a member of St. Aloysius Church and the American Legion Auxiliary.
Survivors: three daughters, Phyllis Graf of Springfield, Betty Ann Moyer of Springfield, and Linda Jo Beagle of Kansas City, MO; four grandchildren, Marilyn Graf, Zachary Young, Jamie Moyer, and Ryan Donovan; five great-grandchildren, Zachary, Liam, Connor, Natalie, and Aaron; three brothers, James Ryan of Florida, John E. (wife, Ida) Ryan, Sr. of Springfield, and Donald Lee Ryan of Ft. Worth, TX; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or St. Aloysius Church.
Visitation will be held 5:00-7:00 p.m., Sunday, July 29, 2007. Services: 10:00 a.m., Monday, July 30, 2007, Reverend Mark Schulte officiating. Burial: Calvary Cemetery. Staab Funeral Home of Service.
