Son of Richard Wayne Gilbert and Mary (née Halterman) Gilbert.

widow: Margaret Joann (née Cucci).

James "Jim" Wayne Gilbert, 61, of Indianapolis, Indiana suddenly passed away on August 5, 2020. He was born September 6, 1958 in Indianapolis, Indiana to Richard and Mary Gilbert; he was one of four children.

Jim was a lifetime Indiana resident and attended Warren Central High School. He met the love of his life, Margaret, at PolyGram Records where they were both employed during the late 70s. The pair were married just one year later in October of 1979. They spent 41 beautiful years together and remain deeply in love at the time of his passing.

Jim was a talented diesel mechanic and beloved employee at PacLease (div. Kenworth) Commercial Trucking. In his spare time, he loved to watch TV, especially Judge Judy and Little House on the Prairie (even if it did make that grizzly of a man a little emotional at times). He also enjoyed cars and had a very eclectic music taste; he would listen to anything from oldies to rap and not miss a beat. Though these attributes tell us a little about what kind of man Jim was, family remembers him best as a funny, hardworking, family man who wouldn't want anyone to make a fuss about him. He was an amazing husband, father, grandfather, and friend; he'll be greatly missed by all.

He is preceded in death by his father, Richard Gilbert; sister, Anna Bartley (Terry, surviving).

Surviving to cherish his memory are loving wife, Margaret; children, Tony (May) Gilbert, Steve Gilbert (Machelle Parks), Sarah Hardesty (Natalie Mishler); sisters, Julie (Larry) Woods, Becky Doty (the late Bob); grandchildren, Haley Hardesty, Jalen Gilbert, Tyler Gilbert, Ashley Hardesty, Amaya Gilbert, Malia Gilbert, Cayden Mishler, Sebastian Hardman-Parks; son-in-law, Jeff Hardesty; as well as a host of extended family members and friends.
