Blanche Secor Longman was born on a farm near Carrollton, IL, Aug. 14, 1894. She was a graduate of the University of Illinois and was a teacher of teachers for some years. She married her husband while enrolled at Northwestern where she got a Masters degree, with two sisters having also married ministers. Her main interests besides Christian education in churches was birding, writing and later painting. After C. W.'s death she served as director of Christian education and also traveled extensively in several continents. She died Dec. 22, 1978, and both she and her husband are buried in Oak Ridge Cemetery in Springfield, IL, a lovely plot near the Lincoln Memorial.
