Janice, "Janie" as she was known, spent all of her life in Whitley County, graduating from Columbia City Joint High School with the class of 1967. She would eventually meet and marry Kenneth "Kenny" Kimpel of Dekalb County. Janie had a love for cooking and a warm, generous heart. She enjoyed crafts and sharing her handmade candies and baked goods with friends and family. Janie retired from Dana Weatherhead after more than 30 years of service in December 1998.
Janie will be missed by her surviving family which includes her Husband, Kenny of Columbia City; Son, Randy Hartman of Columbia City; Step-Daughter, Suzanne Zerkle of Wylie, TX; Step-Sons, Jeffery Kimpel of Fort Wayne and Jeremy Kimpel of Spencerville; Sister, Patricia Cochran of Columbia City; 3 granddaughters and 2 grandsons. She was preceded in death by her parents; Brother, Julius "Ray" Zumbrun; and Brother-in-law, Gaylord Cochran.
