Funeral services were held at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday in the First Baptist church in Chicago, for Edwin C. Forsythe, 47, of Chicago, former resident of Springfield, son of Mrs. Selma Molly Goldsmith, of 1609 Keys Ave., and the late John L. Forsythe, of Springfield. Burial was in Woodlawn cemetery, Chicago.

Mr. Forsythe died suddenly about 12:30 a.m. Saturday in St. Anthony's hospital, Chicago, after suffering a heart attack at 2:30 p.m. last Friday.

He was born Nov. 4, 1906, in Springfield, and moved to Chicago when he was a young man. Mr. Forsythe married Barbara Bunman in 1934 in Chicago. For the last 10 years he had been employed by the John Hancock Insurance Co. Mr. Forsythe was a member and treasurer of the First Baptist church in Chicago, where he sang in the choir, and was a member and secretary of the Lions club for 17 years.

Besides his wife and mother, he is survived by two daughters, Patricia Ann and Eileen Molly, both of Chicago, and a sister, Elsie Forsythe, of Springfield. Two brothers, Alvin and Harold, preceded him in death.
