Our beloved husband, father, brother, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend passed away peacefully from a short illness Sunday, March 7, 2004. Richard was born 2nd January 1933 in Franklin, Idaho to Henry Biggs Adamson and Ruth Fullmer Adamson. He grew up in Cache valley and he loved motorcycles, airplanes, people and life. After graduating high school in 1951 he worked at Hill Air Force Base as a sheet metal repairman and after was sent to the Salt Lake Area Vocational school where he completed a course in radio repair. He joined the Air Force in 1952 and taught aircraft and engine maintenance at Shepard Air Force Base in Texas. While in the Air Force he married Janet Barnes in 1952 and later they raised a family of five children. Upon his discharge from the Air Force in 1956 he used his G.I. bill to go to school and graduated from Weber State University with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Electronics Engineering Technology and later earned his Master of Engineering Degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Utah. During this period he worked in electronics for the Department of Defense and also served in the Air Force active reserve where he flew as a Flight Engineer on cargo aircraft out of Hill AFB, Utah. After thirty three years of work for the Department of Defense he retired as a Supervisory Electronics Engineer in 1987. After retirement he did volunteer work with local schools and was proud to be one of five members to serve on the Governor's Motorcycle Rider Education Advisory Committee for the state of Utah. His term lasted three years.
He received a United States Patent for designing a Vehicle Steering Offset Monitor. A computer controlled unit that alerts the driver when the wheels on his car are out of alignment. Richard was also the president of the "Adamson, Gittins & Wanner Corporation". A small corporation in Utah dedicated to the development of new technology and new concepts. He became an Elder in the LDS Church and was proud to baptize two of his children and confirm one as a teacher. He enjoyed home teaching. He and Janet traveled many of the states and parts of Canada and Mexico. He loved his family and was always proud of them. He stood by them and tried to give them support in any way he could. Richard is survived by his wife, Janet; five children, Mike Adamson, Jill (Rick) Gayler, Julie (Rick) Loveland, Nancy (Allen) Angell and David Adamson; 12 grandchildren; and 6 great-grandchildren.
Graveside services will be held Saturday, March 13, 2004 at 2:00 p.m. Friends may call Friday evening from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. at the Russon Brothers Bountiful Mortuary, 295 North Main. Interment-Richmond, Utah.
