Sarah Rebecca was the youngest of 7 children born to her Mother & Father. Chronologically her older siblings were Martha Ann, Christopher, Stephen Melancthon, Mary, Harriet, & Elijah Byrd.

** According to a variety of military service records Sarah Rebecca's Father Nathaniel Keightley Sparkman as a young man served with different Florida militias between 1835 & 1840 during the Second Seminole War. The year prior to her birth in 1855, he would once again enlist with an Independent militia during the Third Seminole War.

That same year, Sparkman Patriarch Nathaniel receives his second Florida land grant which is signed by14th United States President, Franklin Pierce.

2 short years later, Sarah Rebecca's Father, Nathaniel Keightley Sparkman would pass away on Monday February 16th, 1857. Nathaniel was 43 years old.

After having lost their Patriarch, the children's Mother Mary weds Moses Henry Sistrunk on July 10th, 1860.

On January 7th, 1873 this evenings honoree at the age of 16, marries fellow Sunshine State native, 22-year-old John Wesley Hawkins Jr. Together the couple have 4 verifiable children during the course of their marriage, Sons Steven & Marvin as well as Daughters Berta & Ethle Hawkins.
.
Hawkins Patriarch, John supports his family in the field of farming. Sorrowfully we learn that Sarah Rebecca's Husband loses his life from the effects of "Consumption" ( Tuberculosis ) on May 15th, 1885. He was 34.

Sarah Rebecca would never remarry & takes on the role of head of household while working in farming with Steven, Marvin, & Berta by her side.

For reasons we know not, Sarah Rebecca would lose her life 21 years to the day after her Husband's passing on Tuesday May 15th, 1906. She was 49
