Ruby Jean (Battle) Smith was born about 1934 in Davidson County, Tennessee, the daughter of Lonnie Eugene Battle (1909–1972) and Emma (Maxwell) Battle (1910–1989).
She was married to Thomas Henry Smith Jr (1929–2014), the son of Thomas Henry Smith Sr (ca 1906– ) and Carrie (Kimbro) Smith (1907–1996).
Ruby taught in the Metropolitan Nashville-Davidson County Public School system for 30 years.
Living in Nashville, she was 86 years old when she passed away at home on August 12, 2020.
Preceded in death by her husband, she was survived by two daughters, a married son, a sister-in-law, twelve grandchildren and fifteen great-grandchildren.
Funeral Services were held at Mount Pisgah United Methodist Church, and burial was in Greenwood Cemetery North, with arrangements by Premier Funeral & Cremation Services.
