The DC of Margaret "Wilt" was signed by a son from her second marriage, Abner Wallace Bertolet #181033169. It specifies her burial site as Frederick, Pa, which would have to be Bertolet's Cemetery where her second husband was buried. It gives her parentage as "Myres". The slovenly handwriting appears to say she was married at the time (i.e., "M"), but that would conflict with the 1910 census where she is described as a widow.

Margaret's parents are thought to have been George Myers (#42579466) and Lavina Schaeffer (#42579431) of Lancaster County. She is 9 on the family's 1860 census in Earl Tp. (under "Moyer"). There appears to have been pressure to relocate most of the older children following the death of George Myers in 1865, no doubt to lessen the burden on Lavina.

Marriage number 1 was in 1869 to Alexander Davidson, a shoemaker, 6/1850-8/11/1927, whose memorial has not been found. On the 1870 Census of Earl Tp., Lancaster Co., they were as yet childless. As of the 1880 Census the couple was now in Philadelphia with children Charles 7, Florence 4 and Irwin 2. They divorced in 1886.

A few months after the divorce Margaret married Abner G. Bertolet, #41224218. The following year they had Abner Wallace Bertolet, who is their only known child. Margaret's second husband died in 1895.

In 1900 Margaret married Henry Dengler, #30944769, and they are together in Philadelphia on the 1900 Census. with three sons of Henry by his previous marriage aged 19-27. Oddly enough, she responded to the number of children with "0", but this discrepancy problems reflects only that she wasn't the mother of the three sons of Henry on that Census. Henry died in 1902, leaving Margaret widowed a second time.

It is said that she then married a William Wilson. No obvious candidate has been found, but there was a Philadelphia salesman William B. Wilson (c.1854-1/3/1908) who died while visiting or doing business in New York City. His corpse was shipped back to Philadelphia for burial at Mt. Moriah Cemetery, but there is not currently any memorial for him. (This event is recorded in the NYC death record and confirmed by a death notice in a Philadelphia paper.) It remains conjectural whether this is the correct man.

Margaret's DC gives her married name as "Wilt", and on the 1910 census a Margaret Wilt in Philadelphia was working as a live-in servant. There is a factual discrepancy in that she reports having had a TOTAL of 3 children, while Margaret Myers had a minimum of four total even if it should be that only 3 were living. There is no obvious candidate for this Mr. Wilt. It also looks as if the DC writes "M" for Margaret being married as of her death (conflicting with the 1910 Census), but this DC is exceptionally slovenly.

The question of Margaret's grandchildren needs to be addressed.
