__Mrs. Fred Phelps
__Margaret C. Phelps, 76, of
421 Sixth avenue SW, widow
of Fred Phelps, died Monday
following a brief illness.
__Born in Kenosha, Wis.,
April 14, 1899, she had lived
in Cedar Rapids most of her
life. She married to Clar-
ence Adams who died in
1935. In 1966 she was mar-
ried to Fred Phelps.
__She was a member of St.
Patrick's church and also at-
tended Asbury Methodist
church. Mrs. Phelps was a
member of the Asbury Pautz
Fellowship, and an honorary
member of Mercy hospital
auxiliary.
__Surviving are five daugh-
ters, Virginia Succow, Akers,
La.; Kathleen Bixby, Shells-
burg; Audrey Allard, Mt.
Vernon; Theresa Fountain,
Cedar Rapids, and Joyce
Webb, LaPlace, La.; a son
Buss A. Adams, Cedar Rap-
ids; two stepdaughters, Ila
Thorne, and Vivian Phelps,
Cedar Rapids; four stepsons,
Morris Phelps, Urbana, Dor-
an and George, both of Cedar
Rapids, and Mart Phelps at
home; four sisters, Ramona,
Connie, Cecilia and Nora, all
of Wisconsin; 28 grandchil-
dren, 17 great-grandchildren,
11 stepgrandchildren and
seven Stepgreat-grandchil-
dren.
__Services: 1:30 p.m.
Wednesday at Turner chapel
west by the Rev. Martin
Laughlin of St. Patrick's
church and Rev. Edward
Wolfe of St. Paul's Lutheran
church of Mt. Vernon. Burial:
Linwood cemetery. Friends
may call at Turner' west until
1 p.m. Wednesday. The cas-
ket will not be opened after
the service.
