Donald (Don) Damiano D'Amato was the gr. grandson of Rocco and Antoinette Rosabet Spana D'Amato of Grumo, Bari. Puglia, Italy.

Grandson of Damiano and Elizabeth Rosato D'Amato of Toritto, Bari, Puglia, Italy.

Son of Rocco and Eva Klein McIntyre D'Amato.

Brother of:
James Marion McIntyre
Geraldine (Geri) Elizabeth D'Amato
Marion Virginia D'Amato
Carole Theresa D'Amato

Don married Stella Mary Rokwisz on February 28, 1953 and they had two sons:
Richard D'Amato
Thomas D'Amato

Grandfather of Renee Eve and her two children:
Gavin
Rhiannon

Don was the nephew of Cus D'Amato, manager and trainer of three world heavyweight champion boxers:
Floyd Patterson
Jose Torres
Mike Tyson
He enjoyed boxing on TV.

He loved cars ever since the Christmas he found a red and white racing car under the Christmas tree with his name on it. Once he was seated in that racing car it was difficult to get him out of it.

He received a red Lionel Standard Gauge train set ((locomotive, passenger, freight trains and caboose) when he was about four years old and it became the center of attraction for the whole family, along with our family dog, Skippy, each Christmas. Don, visitors and family members took turns running the trains because they were such an attraction to everyone.

He enjoyed jigsaw puzzles, cards, checkers and Monopoly, and usually won most of the games.

Don loved cars, fishing and boating.

He worked for the New York City Department of Housing before transferring to the Department of Marine & Aviation Staten Island ferryboats.

He retired from the Department of Marine & Aviation, City of New York, where he raised and lowered pedestrian ramps as the ferryboats docked. He told many stories that occurred during his time of employment.

He died of pneumonia with complications.
