Former Resident of Colton Succumbs At Prescott Hospital

News of the death of Curtis Cheatham, former resident, was received today by Colton friends. He died July 15 at the veterans hospital, Prescott, after an illness of only a few days, was the report.

After leaving Colton several years ago, Mr. and Mrs. Cheatham went to Grand Canyon, Arizona, and funeral services and burial were at Grand Canyon.

With his parents, the late Mr. and Mrs. B. H. Cheatham, Curtis Cheatham came to Colton in 1905 and resided here for many years, attending the local schools. He was a butcher by trade and was employed in San Bernardino just prior to his departure from Colton where he and his wife resided on north Eighth street.

Mr. Curtis was active in the American Legion, being this year’s chaplain of the Grand Canyon post, and was last year’s vice commander.

Surviving are his wife and two sisters, Mrs. Mildred Hoag of Phoenix and Mrs. Phoebe Condee of Los Angeles.
