Mevelene ""Meg"" Durham Gilcrease, 89, a native of Montgomery, La., a former resident of Sunset, La., and resident of Raceland, passed away on Jan. 13, 2018. A visitation will take place at Falgout Funeral Home on Wednesday, Jan. 17, from 9 a.m. until service time. Funeral Services will begin in the parlor at 10 a.m., with graveside services following at Bellevue Memorial Park in Opelousas at 2 p.m.

Mrs. Mevelene is survived by her children, La Donna Kaneshiro, Vicki McDowell and Earla Wixom; and six grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Gilcrease was preceded in death by her husband, Arden Ray Gilcrease; son, Keith Gilcrease; parents, James E. and Effie Box Durham; and four brothers.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donation be made to the First Baptist Church of Raceland at 541 Highway 653, Raceland, La. 70394.

Falgout Funeral Home of Raceland is in charge of arrangements.
