He served in the United States Marines as a Non Commissioned Officer and Staff Sgt. He was a Journeyman Carpenter for Local #215 for 20 years retiring in 2006. His memberships included American Legion Post#12, Life Member of DAV; Member of the American Society of Composers and Publishers. He was well known for the music he played for many years, he recorded in Nashville, and he used to play Little Nashville in Nashville Indiana for several years. He married Beth Montgomery on June 26, 1971 and they later divorced. On September 3, 1994 in Colfax he married Marsha E. Burris and she survives.
Also surviving are 2 sons: Shane Cook (Trish) of Lafayette, Jason Cook (Candice) of Rossville; 3 daughters: Annissa Eimen (Sam Curts) of Frankfort, Christal Lawson of Frankfort, and Amy Burris (Aaron King) of Jefferson, 14 grandchildren: Shane II, Zachary, Chelsea, Kelsey, Jessica, Justyce, Jozlynn, Michael, Nicholas, Christopher, John, Trent, Kylie, and Aaron. 2 brothers: Richard Cook of West Lafayette, and Benjamin Cook (wife Fran) of Crystal River, FL 2 sisters: Mary Anne Cook (Jim) of West Lafayette and Kathleen Bradshaw of Search Light, NV. He was preceded in death by 1 daughter, 1 granddaughter, and his parents.
Services were entrusted to Archer-Weston Funeral Home of Frankfort, Indiana.
