Mrs. Abbott is survived by five sons, William M. (Marette) Abbott of Chandlerville, Thomas Erwin (Corrected Edwin) (Sheila) Abbott of Florida, Kenneth A. (Patricia) Abbott of Texas, Paul H. (Shirley) Abbott of Missouri, Richard Abbott of Chandlerville, twelve grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and one son James Vertis Abbott.
Mrs. Abbott attended church at the Chandlerville Christian Church and Fairview Methodist Church. She was a former member of the Women's Club at the Chandlerville Christian Church. She worked as a teacher for 30 years, teaching for the Chandlerville, Petersburg, Bath-Balyki and Virginia school districts. She was later a member of the Illinois Retired Teachers Association.
Funeral services will be held at Fairview Methodist Church at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, December 28, 2010. Visitation will be held at Linter-Hurley Funeral Home in Chandlerville from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. on Monday evening. Burial will follow the services at Fairview Cemetery. Rev. Jim Waterman will officiate.
