JAMES C. ALEXANDER

James C. Alexander, 50, of 96 Myrtle St. collapsed and died of an apparent heart attack in the York Central School Gymnasium, Wednesday night (March 10, 1971) while watching his son James Clark Alexander, lead the Le Roy Central School basket ball team to a section 5 victory over Haverling High of Bath.

Mr. Alexander a machinist at the Le Roy Machine Co., collapsed just before half time in the game which Le Roy won, 57 - 54, he was carried to a near by corridor in the school and was pronounced dead at the scene.

James Alexander was born in Le Roy May 30, 1920, a son of the late Frederick and Mary Jones Alexander. He was a lifelong resident of the community and on Feb. 26, 1946 was married in Le Roy to the former May White.

Surviving besides his wife and youngest son, are two other sons, James Frederick Alexander of Henrietta and Michael Brion Alexander also a student at Le Roy Central, a daughter, Mrs. Hector (Constance) Torres of Le Roy; two brothers, Gerald of Rochester and Harold of Caledonia; a sister, Mrs. Ralph (Bertha) Alexander of Rochester and three grandchildren.

Services were held on Sunday, March 14, at the H. Steuber & Son Funeral Home. Burial will be in Machpelah Cemetery at the convenience of the family.
