He was born Sept. 30, 1897, at Prairie Du Rocher, a son of William G. and Anna Fausz Deterding.
He married Hazel Dunlap Sept 20, 1922. at Danvers. She survives.
Also surviving are two sons, Ralph and William; two daughters. Mabel Shifflet and Lita Rapp;, a brother, George; a sister, Ellereda Ahrent; 14 grandchildren; and 19 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a brother.
Mr. Deterding retired in 193.
He was a member of Danvers Presbyterian Church and Danvers Senior Citizens Club.
