She was born Oct. 28, 1919, in Maquon, the daughter of Alvin and Iva Simkins Potter.
She married Lyle Hanson on Dec. 18, 1937, in Burlington, Iowa. He preceded her in death April 16, 1991.
Surviving are sons, Rolland (Cherry) Hanson of Gilson and Dick (Sandy) Hanson of Phoenix; seven grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; 15 great-great-grandchildren; sister Ilene Gawthrop of Galesburg; and brother Glen Potter of Galesburg. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, four brothers, one sister and one granddaughter.
She was a homemaker and helped her husband in their business, Hanson's Dairy in Knoxville. She was an active member of Grace Lutheran Church in Knoxville and its WELCA Women's League. She volunteered at Galesburg Rescue Mission. She enjoyed gardening and flowers.
Graveside service will be at 11 a.m. Friday, Dec. 17, in Knoxville Cemetery, with the Rev. Michel D. Clark officiating. There will be no visitation. Memorials may be made to Grace Lutheran Church in Knoxville or Galesburg Rescue Mission. Hurd-Hendricks Funeral Home and Crematory, Knoxville, is in charge of arrangements.
