William P. Palmisano, 84, died on September 8, 2007. Born April 10, 1923 in Frankfort, Indiana, was raised and went to school in St. Louis, Missouri. At age 17 he decided to join the Army Air Corps and became a gunner on a B-17 during which time he was wounded and listed as missing in action. He received the Purple Heart, Silver Star, and Air Medal with Oak Leaf Cluster. He returned to St. Louis and became an x-ray technician at St. Louis City Hospital. It was here that he met and would marry his wife of 57 years, Joyce. He served 25 years in the Air Force and later worked for Lockheed Aircraft Service Corp. William was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Mary, his brothers, Tony and Joseph and his dear daughter, Joy Lynn. Surviving are his wife Joyce (nee Schleicher), children Toni Berg (Steven), Frank Palmisano (Jane), Mary Stanfield (Phillip), Susan Palmisano and Michael Palmisano (Ceily). He leaves 9 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. Visitation will be Thursday, September 13 from 6-8 PM at Chapel of the Chimes Mortuary, 7924 N. 59th Ave., Glendale, with Rosary at 8 PM. Mass of Christian Remembrance will be 10 AM, Friday, September 14 at St. Elizabeth Seton, 9728 W Palmeras Dr, Sun City. Graveside military services will be held in Belleville, Illinois.
