Walter, of the Brownwood area of Orange, passed away at the Harbor Hospice House in Beaumont. Born in Marquez, Texas to John Isaac and Vera Mae (Seale) Grimes, he lived in the Orange area since 1942 and worked as a tankerman for Higman Marine Services in Orange where he retired after thirty two years of service. As a child he left school at an early age in order to help out the family in the raising of his nephews. Walter is preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Johnnie M. Grimes, Nolan Ray "Buddy" Grimes and Bud Grimes, who passed away as a result of being killed in action during World War, II in France in 1944 and sisters, Mildred Ellen Gibbson, Maxine Bass, Janie Faye Boyd and Lilabell Stephens. Survivors include his wife, Mary Grimes, stepson, Howard Hill and his companion Dolly Clark, nephews, J. M. Boyd, Walter Ray "Tink" Boyd, A. Z. Boyd, Hardy Boyd, Jack Boyd and Larry Stephens, step-grandchildren, Brandon, Bryce, Brett and Breanna, niece, Betty Sue Stoy, sisters-in-law, Eva Rowels and Lelia Mae Grimes, numerous nieces, nephews and extended family.
