Obituary of Boyce H. Elkins

Services for Boyce Hershal Elkins, 79, will be held at 12 p.m., Tuesday, September 1, 2020, at Hill Crest Memorial Funeral Home, officiated by Bro. Stan Elkins. Interment will follow in Hill Crest Memorial Park. Visitation will begin at 11:00 a.m. prior to the service.

Boyce passed away August 27, 2020 in Bossier Parish. He was born in Shreveport, Louisiana on September 10, 1940 to Argo Boyce Elkins and Alva Tucker Elkins and raised in Spearsville, Louisiana.

Preceding him death are his parents and his sisters, Pat Palmer and Sue Davis. Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife and best friend, Nancy Ross Elkins; son, Jeff Boyce Elkins and wife Cynthia; daughter, Janet Carol Elkins; step-daughters, Paula Jo Davis and husband Derrek and Kathy Ann Moore; step-son, Kevin Michael Pohl; sister, Joyce Manning; grandson, Ryan Boyce Elkins and wife Julia; step-grandchildren, Stephanie Moore, Peyten Davis, Kala Davis, Jenna Pohle and Michael Pohle; numerous nieces and nephews, and Mary Ann Elkins, the mother of his children.

Boyce was very active at Parkview Baptist Church where he served many positions including teaching Sunday school at Shriners Hospital for Children, serving as an Activities Director and was a Deacon. He was a hard worker for Foremost Dairy, starting January 19, 1959 as a Machine Operator in the Ice Cream Dept. and working his way up to Chief Engineer, eventually retiring February 28, 2003. After he retired, he enjoyed fishing and being a handyman for friends and family. He was also an avid reader.

His greatest joy in life was spending time with his family and friends.

Pallbearers will be Ryan Elkins, Derrek Davis, Peyten Davis, Forrest Shea, David Webre and Larry Ross, Jr.
