"Sylvanus S. Porter, one of the oldest and best known residents of the village, died at 1: 30 Thursday morning at his home on Broad street. He had been feeble for quite a number of years and death was due to a complication of diseases. Deceased was born in Canfield October 7, 1844, and here spent his entire life of 73 years. On August 11, 1870, he was married to Miss Lucinda Corll who, with one daughter, Mrs. E.E. Neff, survive him. He also leaves one brother, A.S. Porter. Funeral services in charge of Revs. J. M. Kendig and L.D. Williams will be held from the family home at 1:30 Saturday afternoon. Interment will be made in Zion Church cemetery, north of the village."
