Mr. Hartford was a native of Appalachia, Virginia and one of eleven children born to George and Sarah Ellen Hartford on August 30, 1926.

Bill understood there is no success without hard work. During his working career he served in the U.S. Army Air Corps and was a veteran of WWII. After a honorable discharge he worked for the United States Postal Service in Biloxi, Mississippi.

Bill went on to co-operate Shell oil stations in California, Mississippi, and Florida until he accepted the position of Service Director with Lee Chrysler, Plymouth, Dodge Inc. and relocated to Ft. Walton Beach, Florida. His signature is etched in the family dining table where he often spent evenings working.

Bill had a passion for mechanics and achieved the designation of Master Mechanic. He could hear an engine running and tell you what was wrong. Throughout his adult life Bill remained a member of the First Baptist Church of Biloxi and a Mason with the Magnolia Lodge No 120 F & AM.

On April 21, 1990 Billy passed away surrounded by his family. He leaves behind his loving wife Tanzy and five daughters Linda, Barbara, JoAnn, Toni Rae, and Kimberlee. Twelve Grandchildren and two Great Grandchildren. Along with many extended family members.

"A little while, and ye shall not see me: and again, a little while, and ye shall see me, because I go to the Father."
John 16:16 KJV
