At 10:49 pm on September 1, 2020 Carolyn Miethe Lisle lost her three year struggle against cancer. She was a strong, generous, and caring woman who helped raise her 2 brothers and sister when her father passed away when she was 16.

She was a graduate of Simmons College in Boston with a major in Publications and minor in Physics. After college and some work experience, she chose to serve as an officer in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War.

On April 1st 1967, she married John Lisle at Holy Trinity Church in Boston. They had their reception at the Officer's Club at the Charlestown Naval Shipyard, overlooking the USS Constitution.

Her career after the Navy was as a Computer Center Manager at Carnegie-Mellon University, while John was in graduate school; a programmer; and then as a Technical Writer and Editor.

43 years ago, her life changed when she became a mother of Johanna and then 13 months later of twin sons, John and David.

She was a working mom, working full time and raising 3 very different children. She has always found a way to care for her children, ensuring that they got to little league or softball.

As part of her community service, she served as Treasurer of her church in Lexington, Massachusetts, and then after moving to Nashua, New Hampshire, she served the people of Nashua and New Hampshire as a State Legislator on the Veterans Affairs and Science, Technology, and Energy committees for two terms.

Carolyn began a battle with cancer in 2017, beating most of the odds and proving the resilience of determination and love. In early 2020, after winning the first battle, the cancer returned. Cancer is a persistent opponent and it eventually won, taking her from us.

Her passing is a tragic loss to this world, for someone that beat the odds more times any human could have thought. She was a strong, generous, loving woman who served her family, her community, and her country with honor and pride.

Carolyn's light will be missed by family and friends, her spirit will live on in every one she touched. Her story will continue in each and everyone of us.
